SG Publishing is a small publishing company based in Western Pennsylvania focusing on Academic and Literary works, as well as Boardgames (in our SocialGrav Games division). We will be adding titles to this website soon. One of our feature books is The Struggle for Civil Rights, which is an academic game that helps instructors teach by having students role play historically based characters who need to discuss and debate core issues from the civil rights movement, as well as persuade other characters, in order to achieve specific victory objectives.. They learn about historical, philosophical and religious aspects of the movement by focusing on a time when different groups (NAACP, SCLC, SNCC) were debating which methods and short term goals would be best given their current situations. The game was inspired by the Reacting to the Past method of teaching. Beginning with LIterary stories and poetry, such as haiku ra lurra lurra, and nikoláos and the ride of the noble eight caribou, we are also adding board and card games, the first of which is Lunchcounters, inspired by elements of Rev./Dr. King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail."
